Kant's Terminology
To make a place for metaphysics Kant introduces some terminology (though not entirely novel) for what we would now call the semantic dichotomy. Kant introduces the terms analytic and synthetic to classify judgements, and then argues that mathematics and geometry consist of synthetic truths which are nevertheless necessary and a priori.
