RBJ's Projects in Suspense
A compendium of information on projects.which await rescue from the scrap heap.

A philosophical synthesis from elements of the rational/empiricist and the romantic/existential aspects of western philosophy, overlaid on a substratum ( naive philosophy) which is sceptical and expressionistic. In its less romantic elements the position is sceptical and in some respects positivistic, but the philosophy is also I hope, positive in a more ordinary sense.
An analytic examination of varieties of analysis (mostly but not necessarily philosophical) and their philosophical, technical and technological underpinnings, historical and contemporary, formal and informal.
HOT Philosophy

Introductory Sketch
A few words about the ideas behind "HOT philosophy".

Other Collateral
This project has many faces, which include Blogs, open source projects, a mailing list with an archive, and web pages.
Positive Philosophy
A philosophical synthesis from elements of the rational/empiricist and the romantic/existential aspects of western philosophy, overlaid on a substratum ( naive philosophy) which is sceptical and expressionistic. In its less romantic elements the position is sceptical and in some respects positivistic, but the philosophy is also I hope, positive in a more ordinary sense.

ROMANTIC
Metaphysical Positivism is systematic constructive positivist philosophy. We present here sketches of Metaphysical Positivism together with some related historical material which might possibly help the reader come to an understanding of this system and its place in the history of ideas.
The problem of engineering machines which reason is philosophically provocative. The justification of an architecture for such a machine is a kind of constructive philosophy.
A conception of philosophy in terms of its purpose, methods, form and content, which is closer in some ways to literary art than it is to most other philosophy.
Existential positivism is positive practical philosophy. It builds from a base of pragmatic scepticism, and is closely related to, though not strictly dependent on existential expressionism. It bears on philosophical matters which depend in some way on subjective values, or upon some other kind of essential reference to our personal feelings and intutions.
A triad of book projects related to Positive Philosophy.
Analyses of Analysis
An analytic examination of varieties of analysis (mostly but not necessarily philosophical) and their philosophical, technical and technological underpinnings, historical and contemporary, formal and informal.
Background
A few words on the purposes and character of the work.
Part II of Analyses of Analysis is the part where I seek to present and subject to comparative analysis modern analytic methods and their philosophical underpinnings.
First part of an analytic history of Philosophical Analysis, consisting of examples of exegetical analysis pertinent to the origins of modern methods.
Part III
A condensation of the formal backbone to the formal analyses, presenting the naked analytic truths obtained by deduction in the context of the formal models.

Some Notes
Some History

In 2009 I set out to write a monograph on "The Fundamental Triple-Dichotomy"(!), which project evolved (mostly in its conception rather than by way of execution) throughout the year and spawned a companion. By the end of the year the idea was for a book "Metaphysical Positivism" with a companion volume "An Analytic History of Philosophical Analysis".

At the very beginning of 2010 I scrapped them both and started afresh with "The HOT Philosophy Project". A week later I resuscitated the two projects, modified to complement HOT philosophy, and now thought of in a rather more leisurely time-frame.

The Principle Changes

I mention here the essence of the changes I have in mind. Most of the material on the web site has not caught up with these ideas.

The volume on Metaphysical Positivism I now think of as a focused and tight presentation of a conception of analytic philosophy, which centres around an exposition of analytic method in which the notion of a nomologico-deductive method is central. Where as previously I had intended this volume to contain quite a bit of historical background explaining how Metaphysical Positivism fits in to the history of philosophy, all this historical material is now relegated to the companion volume.

The analytic history of philosophical analysis will trace the origins of our methods and their philosophical underpinnings and will exemplify their use. This is not the kind of task that I would ever expect to complete, so I expect it to look like an incomplete book more or less indefinitely. With the broadening of my conception of analysis this project which was initially intended to be mostly formal modelling I now expect to be more varied in content. Particularly because I have in mind that most of the historical material which I had previously intended to put in the book of Metaphysical Positivism will now go here.
